The 90th Anniversary Boxing Day Races- results and photos

December 28, 2022

We had a beautiful day for the return of the Boxing Day Races at Preston Park in Brighton, which took place after a three-year absence. It was the 90th Anniversary of the event, and almost a hundred runners and walkers joined our annual charity event.

We are delighted to have fundraised £330 for the Clock Tower Sanctuary in Brighton, which supports young, homeless people.

Before the races began, we gave thanks to Sam Lambourne, who has organised the races for many years but is now stepping back. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers who made the morning possible and to the team at Re-pat, who generously provided medical cover for free.

Everybody attending and supporting helped make this a very special Boxing Day morning!

The event is a combination of a race walk (approx 5 miles) and a run, where runners can choose to run between 1-4 laps.

The 4-lap race walk was won by Trevor Jones (Steyning AC). Coming home first in the 4-lap run was our own Howard Bristow (Brighton & Hove AC), followed by Dan Stent (Vegan Runners) and in 3rd, Paul Wishart (Phoenix). For the women first home was Maia Hardman (Phoenix), followed by Millie Dickinson (Phoenix) and Jade Elphick (Brighton & Hove AC). For a full set of results, click on the link below:
