National Championships

BHAC was well represented at the U23/U20 National Championships this weekend in Bedford. Our star performer was Will Gray in the U23 age group when he clocked up 9:18.36s in the 3000m steeplechase to finish just a metre away from the gold medal after a desperate sprint over the last 150m.

Bethany Close in the U20 age group performed well to finish sixth in the 100m hurdles in a legal personal best time of 14.41s, a performance that lifts her into fifth spot on the Sussex All Time Lists and breaks the U20 club and county record by 0.01s.

Back with the U23s, Jack Valeri became only the sixth Sussex triple jumper to top 15.00m to place fifth but unfortunately this was wind assisted, though he did have a legal personal best of 14.97m. This jump breaks his own club record by 7cm.

The throwers also had success, as a sixth place went to Emma Kirk-Odunubi with a personal best effort of 39.34m in the discus and a seventh place went to javelin thrower David Brice who threw 59.54m.
