What an incredible (& hot) few days it was at the English Schools Track & Field Championships in Birmingham over the weekend of 10-11th July.
Lots of amazing top performing young athletes competing for their counties against the best in the country – Such an achievement to simply get there in the first place, but for some the dream went further and medals were earned!
First medal of the weekend was a gold to Florence Matten in the Junior Girls Pole Vault competition leaping to 3.60m. The next a silver for Jaiten Best in the Senior Girls Triple Jump competition jumping a 2cm PB of 12.38m and she is just in her first year of this age group.
On day 2, Florence Goodwin earned a Silver medal in the Inter Girls 3000m final with a time of 9:44.93 – Also securing her qualification to the SIAB competition representing England next week against the schools home counties teams. To conclude the weekend, Ava James completed the medal haul convincingly winning the Senior Girls 1500m Steeplechase in her final English Schools competition in 4:46.74
