Brighton and Hove AC’s Amber Anning closed her outstanding 2024 Indoor season by winning 400-meter gold in the top-class USA collegiate indoor championships.
Amber, the pre-competition favourite, was the only athlete to run sub-51 in Friday’s heats with a 50.74s clocking. On Saturday her main competition was from her own teammates, Rosey Effiong and Nickisha Pryce. Ultimately, Amber won in 50.79s, and the Arkansas trio became the first-ever team members to fill the 400m podium at the national championships. Their team, Arkansas Razorbacks, also won the team title.
Amber has been a member of Brighton and Hove AC since she was nine years old. She ends her superb indoor season unbeaten over 400m and as:
- World #4

- 5 x Olympic qualifying standard
- British record holder 200m (22.60s)
