Amber Anning produced a stunning performance to win gold in the women’s 400m final at the UK Athletics Championships in Birmingham.
The British record holder clocked 50.16 seconds to break her own championship record and claim the national title at Alexander Stadium. Amber is currently ranked seventh in the world over the distance and has secured her place at the European Athletics Championships in August.
Brighton & Hove AC had a weekend to remember, with four club athletes competing. Dulcie Yelling threw a personal best of 48.01m to finish sixth in the javelin, while Ava James placed fourth in the women’s 3000m steeplechase. Alex Riley ran 3:47.47 in the first round of the 1500m.
Huge congratulations to Amber, Dulcie, Ava and Alex. Having four club athletes competing at the national championships is testament to their hard work and the depth of talent across the club.
