Our club coach Richard Carter has been appointed President of Brighton, Hove and Portslade Schools’ Athletics Association. Richard has taken over from B&H stalwart Reg Hook, who has stepped down after more than 50 years in the role. Reg, who is now 85, continues in his voluntary positions as editor of the Sussex Athletics website, President of Sussex Schools and key committee member of SussexAA.
Reg said, “Richard was one of the finest young athletes to compete for Sussex Schools and becomes the first President of the local association to have won schools’ titles at a county and national level.”
Richard coaches the youngest members of our club, most of whom will not know that he was a brilliant junior athlete whose career was cut short by injury.
