Report from Team Manager Tom Ulliott
From the provisional results from last week and can now report that for the teams I manage………….

V45 to 54 ladies – our ladies romped home in gold by a margin of almost 7 mins with Kirsty Phillpot on leg one running 16:11, Geraldine Moffat on leg two recording 15:55 and then a superb run from Linda Schofield on leg three, crossing the line in 14:20. Their cumulative time of 46:26 would have won the V35-44 age group race by 3 minutes and indeed would have placed us 2nd in the senior ladies race, so an excellent run to back up their gold at the SEAA road relay the previous week. Linda’s time was by far the fastest V45-54 of the day and in fact only one senior lady and three under 17s ran quicker. Backing up Linda we also had Geraldine, who as a V55-64 was dropping an age group but ran the fastest V55 time and Kirsty’s 16:11 was quick enough for 3rd fastest lap, although individual lap awards only go to the fastest.

For the men, our V40s also romped home to take gold by a 4-minute margin. Zared Arasaretnam-Hale had an excellent first leg with a time of 12:22, which was also the fastest V40 leg of the day. Howard Bristow then took over and ran 13:02 for the 3rd fastest time with Ziad Wattars 13:20 and Paul Howard 14:00.
Our V50 men were just outside the medals, missing bronze by 38 seconds but solid running nonetheless from Duncan Curtis 16:20, Robin Sutherland 15:25, Shaun Billing 18:35 and Graham Godden 15:09
Last but not least came our V60 men, who matched our V40 men and V45 ladies with team gold. The team being Gary Christie 17:11, Sean Gibson 15:45 and John Lowden 16:30 bringing the team home some 2 mins 25 secs ahead of the 2nd placed team. Special mention here to Sean whose time placed him 2nd fastest individual lap, although no medal but in what to my mind was one of his best performances for the club over cross country. John’s time was good enough for 3rd and Gary’s 4th so no wonder we won the team race!
Well done to you all and looking forward to the next league match, at Goodwood, on Sat 12th Oct, so a week today!!
