Records tumble + County Vests for young B&H athletes in Sussex Sportshall league, 9th December 2012

It was “Super Sunday” for Georgia Coleshill and Amber Anning in the second Sussex league Sportshall match in December. Light-footed Georgia equaled the U13 girls’ speed bounce record of 82, shortly before Amber smashed two longstanding U13 records within the space of ten minutes.

The youngster, in her first year in the age group, annihilated the 18-year old 4-lap sprint record of 48.5 held by another Brighton runner – G. Howell, with a time of 47.3, before bounding to victory in the Standing Triple Jump and in the process breaking a 20-year old record of 6.79 meters with her second round leap of 7.26m.
There were many personal bests for B & H athletes and some great performances across all the age groups. The girls’ won their match, which puts them just one point behind Crawley with two meetings to go.
A special mention to Israel Baines, who was the only U15 boy representing the club in this match. Despite this poor turn out the boys’ team is still in third place after a strong performance in the first league match and in the younger age groups.
Congratulations to three of the youngest team members who have been chosen to represent Sussex at the Under 11 Inter-County Aviva Sportshall Festival. Finn Halloren, Lottie Wright and Anna Dornbusch, will compete at Olympos, Burgess Hill on Sunday 13th January.
