Sussex Schools’ Championship Sussex

The year 7 & 8 Sussex schools championships were held on a flat course in the school grounds on a sunny day at Christ Hospital and again there were many excellent performances from are Brighton youngsters competing for their schools.

In the year 7 girls race Eadie Yelling had a strong run to finish 2nd and was followed by Ruby Wilson with her best run of the season in 3rd place. In 8th Sima Saadatzadeh led home her school team Cardinal Newman to win the team title. Allanah Clayton had a good run in 26th out of over 170 runners.In the Year 7 boys race Will Matthews had an outstanding run, leading from start to finish to win in fine style and not far behind was Henry Yelling who took 3rd place. In a field of over 150 runners Tom Wells 26th, Kit Monti 35th and Jonny Hancock also had good runs.

In the year 8 girls race Rebecca Losh had another excellent run to finish in 2nd place and was followed home by Ciara Muzio 6th, Lacey Fowler 9th, Emily Muzio 10th. Running for Hove Park, Ella Matthews 11th, Jess Corbett 13th and Bertie Brooking 18th helped their school to the team Title. Edie Seth was 62nd in another big field of 126. In the year 8 boys race Archie Rowles had his best run of the year in 6th place and with George Taylor 15th their school Dorothy Stringer were also team winners. In between Archie and George, Haiden May was 7th and Josh Pay 12th. Oscar Davies was 20th out of 115 runners.The Top 20 in each race have been invited to compete for Sussex Schools in the South East Schools Inter Counties at Reigate which will be the last cross country race of a very successful season for the club.
