Sussex Road Relays, Christs Hospital, Saturday 12th April 2014

April 22, 2014

The Brighton youngsters finished the winter season in great style at the Sussex Road Relays at a very pleasant Christs Hospital. The U13 girls team of Flo Robinson, Jessica Courtney and Elie Fitzgerald finished in bronze position as did the U15 girls team. Ella Witt, Lizzie Doran and on the last leg Nancy Jones who took the team into 3rd place and recorded the fastest leg time of the day.

The U13 boys team who have been unbeaten in Sussex this winter again came up tops,  with legs from Sam Wilkinson, Tom Wright and Tom Eames who took the team from 3rd to first place and in the process not only ran the fastest leg of the day, but equaled the course record held by Archie Davis.

While they were receiving their medals the older members of the club were running in the veterans relays and the O50 team of Gary Christie, John Lowden and Keith Newton were convincing winners with John the second fastest leg, six seconds behind Keith. In the same race a bit further behind were the O60 team: Barry Blackwell, Peter Witcomb- 3rd fastest and Martin Duff who has just turned 70 finished in 3rd place. Peter was relieved that his O50 and O60 lap records are still intact for another year.

The last relay was the younger veterans,  the O40 and the team of Dave Benton, Adam Tribe. Shaun Billing and Mike Bannister were just beaten by Hastings in to second place.  Dave Benton  was the 2nd fastest in this race.

Well done again to every one another great day for the club.
