After a great week for the Brighton youngsters in the Sussex Schools Cross Country it was the turn of the older members of the club who competed in very tough conditions at Lancing in the Sussex Masters Championships.
In the first race for the O/50 and O/60 Keith Newton stormed home in 1st place and with John Lowden in 5th and Tom Ulliot, the Womens team manager, in 18th. The three won the team title, by just one point from Horsham Joggers. In the pensioners O/60 race Peter Witcomb led home the team in 5th place , some 50 seconds faster than he ran last year. He was the 1st O/65.
The O/40 race was again very exciting with three teams in contention going into the last lap. With four to score David Benton had a great run to finish in 3rd place and with Graham Godden 7th, Adam Tribe 9th and, competing in his first Championship,Robin Sutherland in 15th place. This secured the team title by two points from our great rivals Phoenix.
Well done to everyone else who competed. It was a great afternoon for the club.
