Tom Eames ran a 3:55.08 1500m for a silver medal at the South of England Championships at Bedford on Saturday. Some six seconds below his best it was good enough for a podium spot behind Yusuf Bizimana’s 3:54.63.
Seventh place was the norm for the club’s discus throwers across the weekend. Leo Walker took this position in the under-20 men’s discus with a best of 37.99m. Paddy Vermes was also 7th with 37.73m in the senior sen’s competition, as was Sarah Hewitt with 33.64m in the senior women’s event.
Only three of the clubs athletes made the journey to Bedford on what was a perfect weekend for athletics.
