There was an excellent top 10 placing for Brighton and Hove senior women in the England Athletics Virtual 5k road race Championships.
Last weekend saw a flurry of 5k time trials throughout the country, as no less than 2,799 entries were received. I am delighted to report that our ladies did the club proud with a top 10 finish in the team race as well as an overall individual 2nd place in the VW45 section for Linda Schofield.
Our other top 15 finishers in their respective age groups were Lois Dooley 9th U17W, followed by myself 12th VM60, Paula Blackledge 13th VW45 and Jeanette Kenneally 14th VW50.
The women’s team averaged a shade over 18:30 for their three legs and were only 34 seconds adrift of 7th place so a great result in such a well supported ‘virtual’ event. Well done to everyone who took part.
