Rojas Medals in Brighton Half and Gold Rush for younger athletes in the Youth Races

There was a podium finish for Kevin Rojas in Sunday’s Brighton Half Marathon. Rojas, who is preparing for the Manchester marathon in April, finished 3rd in 68.36 behind four times winner Paul Martelletti and Chichester doctor, Chris Zablocki.

B&H’s own doctor, Dimos Evangelidis, had a great run to break 70 minutes for the first time with 69.43 in 8th place, while Ash Humphreys produced his second best half marathon performance with 72.25.

There were also PBs for V45 Graham Godden in 76.04 and Paul Howard in 77.27 – both finishing inside the top 50.

As ever, there were many other strong runs and personal best performances from B&H athletes amongst the 8000+ finishers, enjoying a great day on the seafront!

In the Youth Races,B&H had many winners and podium places.

Starting 20 minutes after the main event Tom Eames and Joshua Firsht were first and second in the U18 race in 5.08 and 5.31. Max Brazier and Adam Firsht won gold and silver in the U15 race in 5.14 and 5.36 and Miles Waterwortth was victorious in the U11 boys race in 6.01.

Talented Lois Dooley was second girl home in the U15 race in a fine time of 5.52. Meanwhile, Tatum Walker’s late surge to the line enabled her to snatch the U13 race from the second placed athlete Milly Dickinson, with both girls given the same time of 6.02. Lacey Fowler just missed a podium place in fourth.

The club’s youngest winner was 9 year old Rosie Gasson who, with another year in the age group, had a great run to win the under 11 girls race in 6.43. Safia Kadri was a fine third in 7.11.
