The last winter fixture – the Sussex Road Relays – were held around the paths of Christ’s Hospital school and the Brighton youngsters came home with two more Sussex team titles, two individual silver places and for good measure there were two second and a third fastest leg, to complete an excellent year for the club.
In the U/13 girls race Ruby Wilson came in 4th with 6mins 43secs and with Dulcie Yelling 6mins 44secs and sister Eadie 6mins 49secs bringing the team home to win the gold medal.
The B team was led home by Mollie Barrett 6mins 34secs having her best run of the year. She was rewarded with the 2nd fastest lap and with Sophie Packham 7mins 7secs and Rosie Gasson 6mins 57secs they collected the silver medal. The C team with Sima Saadatzadeh 7mins 21secs, Maddy Badruzaman 7mins 13secs and Ella Kaps 7mins 51secs were 11th and the 4th team of Allanah Clayton 7mins 41secs, Libby Russell 8mins 13secs and Esme Palmer-Malins 7mins 58secs were 15th.
In the U/13 boys race Miles Waterworth with 6mins 20secs came in 3rd place and with Will Matthews 6mins 9secs moving up to 2nd handing over to Henry Yelling 6mins 7secs who brought the team home well clear in 1st place and his time earned him with the 3rd fastest leg. The B team with Sam Southgate 6mins 25secs, Jude Clayton 6mins 39secs and Ethan Booth 6mins 55secs were the 1st B team home in 6th place. The C team led home by Jonny Hancock 6mins 41secs, Archie Turner 6mins 53secs and William Muzio 7mins were 12th. The 4th team with Kit Monti 7mins 7secs, Tom Matthews 6mins 54secs and Milo Sutton 7mins 28secs were 18th.
The U/15 girls again showed their strength in depth with three teams in the first six. There was a great battle on the first leg with Pia Lewes A team 6mins 28secs, Poppy Palmer-Malins B team 6mins 29secs and Lacey Fowler C team 6mins 33secs. On the 2nd leg Lois Dooley had another excellent run with 6mins 15secs which earned her the 2nd fastest lap and with Ella Matthews 6mins 29secs the team finished in second place. The B team was completed by Gracie Bernard 6mins 31secs and Emily Muzio 6mins 51secs in 5th place. The C team with Tatum Walker 6mins 47secs and Alex Nann 6mins 58secs were not far behind in 6th. The 4th team with Jess Corbett 7mins 13secs, Bertie Brooking 7mins 1sec and Ciara Muzio 7mins 19secs were 10th.
In the U/15 boys race on a strong 1st leg Joe Luker 6mins came in 7th and with Harvey Grant 5mins 42secs and Patrick Connolly 5mins 46secs the team although only finishing 5th were just 15 seconds behind the 1st team and 9secs behind the 3rd team. The B team of Archie Rowles 6mins 12secs, George Taylor 6mins 18secs and Baxter Fletcher 6mins 5secs were 8th. Oscar Davies ran 6mins 30secs on the 1st leg.
Well done again to every one and the excellent team spirit and now looking forward to a successful summer season.
