Quadkids Under 11 Championships, 9th July

August 30, 2017

In both the boys and girls competitions strong performances in the throws were the game changers. For the boys Louis Opoku launched the Vortex Neuf out to 41.20 metres. This was an outstanding distance and Louis’s sound performances in the 75m sprint, standing long jump and 600 metres secured the young athlete the top spot on the podium with 252 points. Alongside were his Brighton clubmates Charlie Benson in silver medal position – just one point behind and Isaac Orchard who scored 245 for bronze.

Brighton also achieved the top two spots in the girls competition. Dulcie Yelling’s Neuf throw of 37.10m was in a class apart and this too propelled her to victory with 237 points ahead of teammate Eloise White who had the second longest throw of 33 metres and scored 226 points. Horsham’s Madeleine Way was the bronze medallist with 223 points, which included an excellent standing long jump of 2.09m.

Dulcie’s result was just one point below the six-year-old Championship Best Performance held by her club-mate Amber Anning.
