Olympic Long Jumper Roy Cruttenden funeral details

We have just had some more very sad news as a club and learned that Brighton & Hove AC Olympian Roy Cruttenden died on 3rd June.

Born 18 February 1925 in Brighton, Roy, a long jumper competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne where he came 9th.

He represented England in the long jump at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, where he finished in fifth place overall.

Roy had a personal best of 7.59m, a Sussex record which stood for almost 60 years until another Brighton & Hove athlete – Tom French – improved it by one centimetre in 2016.

Memorial service at St Giles Church, Shermanbury, RH13 8HF, 19th June, at 2.30 pm, and afterwards at Henfield Village Hall.
