Now that’s a Birthday present! U13 & U15 League Finals

September 8, 2014

The Under 13 team manager Pete Witcomb had much to celebrate on Sunday as his young squad made it three in a row titles for the club on his 65th birthday! The team comfortably took the overall Under 13 Sussex League Championship title alongside their East division win. There were many excellent performances and a full report will follow later this week.

Last Friday the Under 15’s had their Sussex league final. Crawley as expected won – however Brighton & Hove did very well to come in 2nd in front of Chichester and Horsham Blue Stars. Stand out performances were Eden Cole’s Championship Best Performance of 48.58m in the javelin, Amber Anning’s thrilling opening 300m CBP of 41.2 shared with Crawley’s Orla Brothers, and a wonderful end of season personal best and English Schools’ standard from Hannah Brockbank who threw the discus 28 metres dead.

Well done to all the athletes who took part, many of them tired after a long summer of athletics and a few days back at school. A BIG thanks must go to the team managers Helen Fitzgerald and Nigel Robinson – who took on the U15 squad this year and have done a great job and of course to Pete Witcomb, who is like a fine wine and gets better every year!
