In a great start to 2020 Brighton & Hove’s Kevin Moore won the New York Road Runners Midnight 4-mile race, in a sparkling time of 19:46. The iconic race started to the sound of fireworks as the clock struck midnight.
Thousands had gathered in Central Park for the annual NYRR event, whose previous winners include Britain’s 1984 Olympic silver medallist, Wendy Sly. It was a good night for the Brits with Eilish McColgan leading the women home from, a returning to form, Mary Cain.
There were no early morning celebrations for Kevin, who hot footed it to the airport to ensure he is back in Brighton & Hove AC team colours for the Sussex County Championships on Saturday.
