We had some exceptional results from our teenage runners who represented Sussex last weekend against top class athletes from all over England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. In the U13 boys’ event Stephen Ferroni continued his outstanding form and finished in 9th place. Well done to an unwell Samura Karmara who did really well to complete the course. The U13 boys took 13th team spot.
In the U13 girls event Martha Coyle had a very strong race and should be pleased with her 36th place. In the U15 James Oliver and Esther Lutz-Davies both ran well, as did Alex Rice in the boys U17.
The first race of the day was the U20 men’s 8K and one of the most improved middle distance athletes in Sussex – Will Gray came in 21st with an inspired run, leading the Sussex team to 3rd place overall, This is Will’s first year in the age group so what will the lad do next year? On his welcome return from injury James McCarthy completed the team in 57th and Keiran Silsby ran a good race to make the first 100, finishing in 99th place.
