In the first cross country league race the girls continued with their great performances. Nine girls turned up, with three missing the event due to half term holidays
In the under 13 girls race there was an outstanding performance by Martha Coyle who came 2nd, a position she held from the start. Well done Martha. Nancy Jones came 21st, Grace Fitzpatrick 28th and Isabel Jones 32nd all producing great runs. The team finished 5th overall, but with the same points as 4th placed Crawley.
Five girls turned out for the under 15 girls, Esther Lutz Davies, Steff Paraskevas, Holly Turner, Laura Smith and Darci Stoker. It proved to be an exciting race with our four leading girls battling against each other for positions. They all ran exceptionally well. For the first half of the race Holly and Esther ran side by side with the others just behind but in the latter part of the race Steff gradually increased her pace to overtake Holly, with Laura finishing just behind Holly. The final positions were Esther 6th (with the same time as 5th place), Steff 7th, Holly 8th and Laura 11th. Darci produced a great performance in her first race to come 21st. It should be an exciting season watching these girls compete.
The under 15 A team lies in 1st place with the B team in 7th.
Our thanks go to Peter and John for giving up their time to train the girls.
