All,

As Cathy and I went off on our hols directly after the wedding day 5 and 10 this is the first chance I’ve had to send out the results and updated all time list along with a short note on the run itself.

We were lucky enough to have a pretty nice evening for the run with about the usual number of runners turning out. Unfortunately Carats café didn’t open and neither were the loos so perhaps we’ll look to start and finish at the end of Hove Lagoon in future years as facilities are slightly better there.

Firstly thanks to the lovely Tracey Whittle for doing the honours with the stop watch and also to my very own Dave and Trish for being the human bollards marking the turn at the far end.

Although still recovering from his marathon, Shaun soon pulled away in the 10 miles for a good class solo run to come home well clear of yours truly in 60:51. Although initially aiming for a sub 60 this was still a great time for what was effectively a solo time trial and is his 2nd fastest showing on the course, only bettered by his 59:50 in 2005 which remains the only time anyone has broken 60 mins on the course. I was quite happy with my 62:46 as this was in fact my quickest time, improving on last year’s by 14 seconds.

Neil, also recovering from his recent marathon had a good solid run for 3rd in 63:43.

Cathy was the only lady to brave the longer distance and was rewarded for her efforts with a great run, coming home in 68:16 after catching up with Dave Whittle and Mark Halls in the latter stages. This was the fist sub-70 clocking for a lady on the course and in fact takes almost 5 mins off the previous fastest ladies time set in 2006.

Mikey B zipped round the 5m course in 36:36 with Chris Moyle not too far behind in 37:10. Evie continues with her fine form to be first lady in 38:13 which is the fastest ladies time of the two years we have held the 5m option so well done to her.

After the run most of us, at Mark’s suggestion, retired to the nearby Tapas restaurant at Southwick Marina for a great end to a lovely eve and perfect prep for the hols which followed.

You’ll see that I’ve updated the all time list but there’s a few blanks in terms of ages at the time of the relevant runs so if any of you wish to share your d.o.b. or simply your age band at the time of each run with me I’ll update that.

See you all soon

Tom
