Nancy and Samura lead the way

February 29, 2012

Brighton Half Marathon Youth Races, Sunday 19th February 2012

In a mixed field of 90 athletes Samura Kamara sped to victory to take
the boys’ 11-13 title followed home by Nancy Jones, who easily won the
girls’ race for the second year in a row. Amber Anning, one of the
youngest competitors, was third girl home, just seconds ahead of Ella
Witt. A good showing also from Tommy Blanden and Oscar Smith who were
4th and 5th respectively in the boys’ event, Joshua Firsht who was 10th
and from Carmen Adjare and Ruby Daniels 20th and 21st in the girls
event.

In the 8-10 age group Tom Wright and Max Brazier ran brilliantly to come
2nd and 3rd out of a field of 251, as did Luke McCallum who came 8th.
The next generation of athletes, many of whom have older siblings or
parents in the club, were out in force as well. Well done to Roxy Jones,
Violet Witt, Ruby Anning, Sam Wright, Betsy Newsham and Neil
Breckenridge.
