B&H Youngsters excel at final YDL fixture, 18th July 2015

At the final Youth Development League meeting held in fine conditions at Chelmsford, no fewer than 25 Brighton youngsters achieved personal bests and in some cases in more than one event! In a very strong league there were many excellent performances, which pushed our youngsters to excel.

In the under 13’s Javelin we had a double win, Alex Pert threw 33.20m and Elizabeth Korczak 26.52m. Ruby Anning was our third winner in this age group in the 75m. The following under 13’s all achieved personal bests; Connor Fairhall shot, long jump and 200m, Jamie Arnold 100m and 200m, Haiden May 1500m, Josuha Pay 1500m and shot, Lois Dooley 1200m, Adam Firsht 800m 2.19.6 just a second outside the club record which was set in 1982. Dalia Stavar 75m and long jump, Tatum Walker 800m, Minnie Madriaga 75m, Arthur Haines 100m, Ella Monk shot, Roxy Jones 800m and Hurdles, Chela Ruiz-Cravinho high jump.

To end the meeting the boys 4x100m relay team consisting of Adam Firsht, Jamie Arnold, Connor Fairhall and Alex Pert ran an excellent race t break the 22 year old club record with a time of 54.6 seconds.

In the Under 15’s the performance of the day came from Tom Eames who after his excellent second in the English Schools 1500m, dropped down to the 800m where he again achieved another personal best 2:02.5 he also stepped in and did a PB in the discus. Other winners who also achieved personal best were; Eden May 30.86m in the javelin and Lili Parker – pole vault -2.20m. There were also impressive wins for Joshua Firsht -300m, Tomer Tarragano- 1500m and Hannah Brockbank – discus -who also set a PB in the shot. The following u/15 also achieved personal best; Amber Wright 800m and pole vault, Elie Fitzgerald – discus, Asier Barnett 100m and 200m, Francesca Walmsley – long jump, Jemima Edwards- 1500m and Anna Dornbusch – 200m.

Over the four league meetings the team finished an excellent third and will stay in this division next year. Well done to every one that competed and again thanks to all the coaches and officials.
