B&H U13’s sparkle in opening match of Sussex U13 League

In 2012 team manager Pete Witcomb led the U13’s to victory in both the East division and grand final of the U13 Sussex League. This year only five of those victorious athletes remain in the age group and Wednesday evening’s match at Lewes was the first opportunity to see what this new, inexperienced young team could do. The mixture of relief and pride on Pete’s face at the end of the night gave the answer. Victory after victory with many strong performances in between, gave the B&H youngsters a 49 point win over nearest rivals Lewes.

There were stand out performances from Bupi Mwangulube winning both the 75m and 150m Girls sprints in trainers; Thomas Eames gliding to victory in the 1000m in 3:05.5; Amber Anning’s 600m win in 1:48.3; Sam Wilkinson’s 10.4 75m and 1:48.6 600m; Danny Ross-Horton’s 4.23 in the Long Jump; Flo Robinson’s 21.78m javelin; Ruth Noble’s 1.28m PB in the High Jump and Hannah Brockbank’s 15:47 in her first ever discus competition.
