Brighton and Hove AC teenager Amber Anning ran 52.22s indoors over 400m, competing for her university team in the USA.
This is the fastest indoor 400m ever by a British teenage woman. Last year Anning broke the 49-year-old British under-20 women’s 400m indoor record, with a silver medal run of 53 seconds dead at the British champs.
Running at Fayetteville in Arkansas for Louisiana State University, the 19-year-old also anchored her relay team to victory, running a 51.85s split.
If you’re just waking up, Amber Anning ran 52.22 last night at the Tyson Invitational. Huge Indoor PB! #5 overall in the NCAA and #1 freshman. UNREAL! pic.twitter.com/WH9y1Hu86K
