Congratulations to Amber Anning, who has been named the 2023 Sussex Sport and Physical Activity Awards “Sports Personality of the Year.”
In 2023, Amber made history, becoming the first Sussex County Athletics Association to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships, splitting two 49-second legs en route to a 4×4 relay Bronze medal. During the season, she ran the fifth-fastest opening leg ever of an indoor 4×4 relay as her university team ran a world best. She also ran the third fastest-ever 400m time indoors by a GB woman (50.68s).
This honour came eight years after Amber was crowned Sussex Sports Awards “Young Sports Personality” for a season in which she broke the British under-15 girls 300m record, previously held by Dina Asher-Smith.
