The first three places in the women’s 4.25 miles Preston Park, Boxing Day, road race were filled by Brighton & Hove athletes. Jade Elphick was a fine 10th in 28:54, Freya Leman 11th in 29:10 and Paula Blackledge 16th in 30:05.
Crawley AC’s Paul Navesey took the main honours in the men’s race, with our own Louis Taub (M40) coming third in 26:38. Meanwhile, the Steyning duo of Trevor Jones and Julie Drake won the 5.5 mile men’s and women’s race walk.
The event was organised by B&H veteran athlete, endurance coach and owner of the Jog Shop – Sam Lambourne. All proceeds are going to the Sussex Air Ambulance Service, which in the past year has rescued a couple of club athletes, who got into difficulty on the South Downs.
