Home Advantage and many PB’s at U13/15 YDL

July 2, 2019

Brighton & Hove AC had home advantage at the last Southern Premier 2 division lower age group Youth Development League fixture.

The under-13 team was nearly at full strength and this led to some excellent performances. Our newest members Albie and Tom scored highly for the team with Albie getting vital points in shot, high jump and javelin. His 1.35m high jump, in particular, was the same height clearance as the winner of the ‘A’ string.

Tom won the ‘B’ string 1500m in his first YDL outing and was also part of an amazing 1500m double, with ‘A’ string Ruben. Our sprinters were on fine form with everyone getting a personal best  in each race they did! Well done Elodie, Libby, Stella, Noah, Rhys and Ruben. Pearl  ran an 800m PB of 2:32.8 fro second in the ‘B’ string.

The performance of the day went to Louis with a 37.23m javelin throw which was another PB and elevates him to fifth place in the UK under-13 rankings.

For the U15’s Mollie Barrett ran a personal best of 2:19.4, for second in the 800m, and Kofi Obeng leapt out to 5.56m in the long jump. Kathleen Keaney threw a discus PB of 28.64m and Ethan White’s 30.19m was a hammer best.

We had a full set of officials, scoring the maximum 56 points, which helped us finish a credible 3rd behind Bracknell and Crawley.
