Throwers out in force

Two championship best performances by B&H athletes were amongst the highlights of the Sussex Schools’ Championships at K2 last Saturday. On a bright, but breezy day athletes from all over the county battled it out for selection for next month’s English Schools’ in Birmingham. 

Emily Robinson surely secured her place with a PB and CBP of 36.42m in the Junior Girls javelin. In the same competition Amber Pennington threw over 30m – the ES standard – for the first time with 32.09m for 3rd place. An age group up Lara Charman won the Inter Girls Javelin with a CBP of 31.75m. 

Theo Hines coasted to victory in the Inter Boys Discus with a PB of 41.24 and Lotte Hoare the sole competitor in the Intermediate Women’s Hammer,  showed no complacency –  throwing a fantastic PB and CBP of 48.60m.

Fleet footed Anna Short took the Senior Girls 100m title in 12.2, (2.8w) Moyo Oloko ran an ES standard of 12.8 in both her heat and for 3rd place in the final of the Junior Girls 100m with Olivia Monk 5th in this race. Amber Anning ran a PB of 25.9 (2.1w) for silver in the Junior Girls’ 200m. Jess Tsapperelli ran a PB of 12.4 for silver in the Junior Girls 75mH  and Aneira Farrar- Daniel stormed through the Inter Girls 300m heats and final to win in a PB of 41.9. Meanwhile Hannah Brockbank took the Junior Girls discus with a throw of 24.99m.  

Nathan Parker, last year’s English Schools’ silver medallist, ran 14.9 in the 110MH to easily take the Senior Boys title.
