Sportshall Roundup as records tumble

February 14, 2014

A total of 55 athletes competed in the various U11, U13 and U15 events over the four Sportshall fixtures. There were many outstanding performances with Amber Anning producing no fewer than five U13G County records.

She reigned supreme in the 2-lap and 4-lap sprints, the Vertical Jump (67cms), Standing Long Jump (2.42m) and Standing Triple jump (7.55m). Several of these records had stood for more than 20 years and may well last for that long again. Georgia Coleshill who competed in all four meetings won the speed bounce three times and also broke the U15G county record with 86 bounces in 30 seconds.

There were many other winners in various events across the league both on the track and on the field, with Noah Rees winning three shot events. Our new U11’s did very well in their first season, with Isaac Hardy-Awesu improving his Standing Long Jump to 2.06 to win the last fixture.

Well done to everyone and hopefully all our athletes can take the performances on to the summer season. The future of the club is looking very bright.

Good luck too, to all our athletes who will be representing Sussex at the U15 and U13 Regional Sportshall final at Burgess Hill on Sunday 23rd February.

They are: U13 G Hannah Brockbank, Amber Anning, Anna Dornbusch and Amber Pennington

U13 B Thomas Murtali, Joshua Firsht

U15 G Jedida Dougnaglo

U15 B Matthew Smith
