South of Thames Success for Carder & Bristow

December 18, 2017

On what was a pretty bleak day for Sussex teams the Brighton & Hove Senior Women did very well at Aldershot on Saturday in the South of Thames Senior Team championship. They just missed the podium finishing fourth with 165 points to Kent’s winning total of 114. Seventeen year old Emma Gill led the team home in 13th place with Paula Blackledge placing 21st and Phoebe Connolly 27th.

Normally only four runners score in women’s team races, however here it was six to score over the 7½-mile course. The team was completed by Rosie Neill 30th, Cathy Ulliott, who was the second W50 in 32nd and Judith Carder who won the W60 title in 42nd.

Sussex athletes took the top two places in the M40 group with Howard Bristow in second place in 39:15s.
