Rojas rocks in Berlin Marathon

October 5, 2015

rojas-croppedKevin Rojas made it three PBs in his last three marathons with a terrific 2.18.44 in the Berlin Marathon. This performance takes him into the UK top 10 for 2015 and is the fourth fastest marathon of all time by a Sussex athlete (behind Derek Stevens in 1984, Ian Beauchamp in 1978 and Dan Rathbone in 1997). But the result wasn’t a foregone conclusion after Rojas moved slightly too far ahead of target pace for the second 5km of the race (16.04) and had to dig deep into his mental and physical reserves in the latter stages to bring home the performance he deserved. Kevin, who became a father for the first time six months ago, now sets his sights on Manchester next spring, where he aims to edge closer to Rathbone’s Brighton & Hove club record of 2.16.23.
