Matt Smith was one fo the individual Sussex Schools athletes who travelled to Boston for the finals of the English Schools Combined events championships.
Despite having a slightly lower key season that last year the ever reliable Matt, in his final year at these championships had a good result in the Senior (U19) decathlon by placing tenth with 5470 points.
He did manage to include one PB in his ten events with a run of 18.07s in the 110m hurdles.
His other efforts in rather windy conditions were 12.07s for the 100m, 6.14m long jump, 10.98m shot putt, 1.80m high jump, 55.98s 400m, 35.98m discus, 3.30m pole vault, 43.71m javelin throw and 5:01.57s for the 1500m.
