Hickstead Update

February 22, 2016

The final Sussex cross-country league meeting was held at the new venue of Hickstead in very wet and muddy conditions and again there were several excellent performances.

The team of the day was our u13 girls where we had seven in the first 15 places. Lois led the team home in an excellent 2nd place and with Rebecca 4th and Pia 6th they easily won the team race and overtook Phoenix to win the league title. To show our strength in depth the B team came 3rd with Tatum 9th Lacey 12th Ella Monk 14th and Ella Matthews 15th and the team finished in 4th place overall. To cap a great season Lois finished in equal 2nd place in the individual placings.

In the u13 boys Patrick led the team home in 6th, Josh 10th and the final scorer was Archie 18th just beating Luke in his first race in the age group into 19th with George close behind in 20th. In the league the boys held on to the bronze team medals.

In the u15 girls ever present Amber 10th Jemima 11th and although they finished 5th team on the day they held on to 2nd place medals in the league.

In the u15 boys it was Max also ever present who was our first finisher in 10th place. Joe just back from injury in 12th and with Sam Kane in 18th the team also held on to 2nd place in the league.

In the u17 boys a special mention to Tommy who competed in every league meeting in an incomplete team and on Saturday he came in 7th and Cameron 14th. The team was in 4th position. Hopefully with several u15’s moving up next year Tommy we have full team.

There were a total of 19 scorers over the two age groups u13 and u15 and we had 39 in total that completed at least once this winter -a great achievement for the club.

Well done to every one even if you were not scoring you our all still important to the teams success. Full results are on the Sussex website and this report on our club website. http://www.sussexathletics.net/
