Haywards Heath Harriers, Track & Field Open Meeting @ K2, 23rd April 2011

May 9, 2011

A strong turn out from B&H’s younger athletes at this annual open meet saw some excellent performances. It was encouraging to see so many of our U11 and U13 athletes – some of whom were competing for the first time.

For the U11 girls’ Amber Anning was impressive, easily winning all four of her events – 75m, 150m, 600m and LJ.  In the U13 girls’ competition Aneira Farrar- Daniel stormed to victory in the 150m, smashing her PB with a time of 21.9 before winning the LJ with another PB of 4.00m.

Lara Charman and Nancy Harman made it a 1-2 in the U13 Javelin, with Lara’s winning throw a PB of 22.74m. In the discus their positions were reversed with Nancy taking top spot with a new PB of 20.77m.  These two look set to battle for honours throughout the season. Well done too to Isabelle Adlam (24.10m) and Emma Kirk-Odunubi (34.22) who respectively won the U15 and U20 womens’ discus.

Special mention to Stephen Ferroni in his first season as an U15. He knocked more than 8 seconds off his PB, coming in 6th in the 800m in a time of 2.15.1.

In the BMC mile Frank Ward was the first V50 home in 6th place in 5:11.1 followed by Mark Halls (V45 ) in 11th with a time of  5.27.2.
