Withdean came alive with Brighton and Hove AC athletes showing the results of a hard winter of training. Over 300 athletes took part in an atmospheric evening organised by Gavin Stephens in conjunction with Brighton Phoenix.
Our club contributed to almost a quarter of the entries, so heat after heat, we saw the best from many of our athletes with an insane number of PBs, over 40 in total!
In the sprints, Lucia, Noah, Remi and Ruby C all recorded two PBs as did Brian – a V60. In the middle distance events, the excitement grew, with Saul, Alex Ro, Merle, Alex Ri, Matt G, Arun and Freddie M, all winning their heats.
Our STAR performance of the night was Alex Riley in the 1500m. Paced by International Archie Davis, Alex lead out on his first 1500m since 2020. Not only did Alex win, taking 29 seconds off his PB, but he is now ranked 4th in the UK in the U20M with an impressive time of 3.51.70. Well done, Alex.
