The Clayton family is helping club athletes keep costs down by recycling kit to ensure there is a steady supply of used clothing and shoes in good condition, to pass on for free.
“We started off with about 30 pairs of spikes bought from eBay,” said Adam Clayton, “Additionally we asked the parents in our endurance group to give us any items they no longer needed. Wonderfully, we’ve been able to fulfil every kit request made so far”.
The Clayton’s clean up the items and according to one parent, do an excellent job, “I handed in some spikes which my son had outgrown after just a couple of uses, but I picked some up in his size, and you would not have known they weren’t new”.
Adam said: “We’re happy to take donations of any reusable running kit. Recently we’ve been able to provide clothing and spikes to new members, which is a great ‘welcome gift’ and has encouraged them to participate and represent the club”.
The best day to drop kit at the track is Thursday. “Spikes and trainers are always welcome as feet grow so quickly! It would be great if any donations are left on, or by the desk,” adds Adam.
Please ensure all donations are clean and dry, and if anyone has a request for an item, The Clayton’s will do their best to sort it out.
