Congratulations Gail Davey OBE for making a difference

October 27, 2020

We have just learned that our club member Professor Gail Davey, was honoured in the belated Queen’s Birthday Honours List with an OBE, for her ongoing work to tackle neglected tropical diseases. Gail is a professor of global health epidemiology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and was recently appointed President of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine Hygiene.

An amazingly humble individual Gail founded the International Podoconiosis Initiative.  Her goal is to bring an end to this disease, which is a form of elephantiasis (leg swelling) found in subsistence farming communities in the tropics.

Congratulations Professor Davey!
