Brilliant running from B&H Youngsters at The Sussex XC Champs, Bexhill 06.01.18

The Annual Sussex Cross Country Championships were held at a very muddy Bexhill common, however that did not stop a record 51 Brighton youngsters turning out and there many excellent performances and we came away with 3 first team titles and 2 second team places. Individually there were 3 second places and a third place. Apart from our medal winners there was excellent back up in all our teams.


We did have a 1st in the girls u/11 where Dulcie Yelling had another easy victory and will now move up to the u/13. In the u/11 boys Jude Clayton finished in 5th place.

In the u/13 girls Eadie Yelling had an excellent run to lead the team home in 3rd place and with Rosie Gasson 5th and Ruby Wilson 6th they were easy team winners. There was excellent backup from the B team with Sophie Packham 13th, Mollie Barrett 14th and Allanah Clayton having her best race of the season in 19th they were the 1st B team just outside the medals in 4th place. Not far behind Pearl Pennington 20th, Tilly Wilburn 22nd, Ella Kaps 23rd and Sima Saadatzadeh 34th.

In the u/13 boys Henry Yelling led the team home with another strong performance in 2nd and with Miles Waterworth 5th just beating Will Matthews in 6th and like the girls were easy team winners. Again there was excellent backup with Sam Southgate 11th, William Muzio 20th, Archie Turner 23rd, Alexander Riley 27th, Rhys Laverick 33rd, Tomas Bond 36th, Kit Monti 40th, Joe Wilburn 43rd, Jonny Hancock 44th and and Ethan Booth 48th.

In the u/15 girls it was Rebeeca Losh who led the team home with an excellent run in 4th and with Lois Dooley 9th and Ella Matthews completing the team in 12th the team finished 2nd 4 points behind the home club Hastings. Again there was great backup with Pia Lewes 14th, Poppy Palmer-Malins 15th, Emily Muzio 16th, Ciara Muzio 19th, Alex Nann 20th, Lacey Fowler 23rd, Jess Corbet 24th and Bertie Brooking 31st. The B team finished in 5th and the C team in 7th.

In the u/15 boys it was Tom Roberts who after his 6th place in the last league race had an excellent run to finish in 2nd place and with Patrick Connolly 10th and Adam Firsht 14th the team like the u/15 girls collected the silver medals. Like the previous 3 teams there was excellent backup with Joe Luker 16th, Baxter Fletcher 17th, Archie Rowles 18th were the first B team in 4th place just outside the medals. Not far behind Harvey Grant 19th, George Taylor 27th, Josh Pay 29th, Oscar Davies 33rd competed another fine team performance..


In the U/17 women despite not having a full team Amber Wright 10th and Jemima Edwards 15th both had good runs. In the u/20 women Emma Gill was 4th 18th in the race and helped the senior team to collect 3rd place. Amy Gamblin was the 8th u/20 and 69th in the race.


In the U/17 men’s race Tomer Tarragano had his best run of the season in an excellent 2nd place and with Joe Clayson 7th and Sam Wilkinson 13th they won the team title by just 2 points. Max Brazier 16th and Henry Taylor finished 25th.


Well done to every one it was a great day for the club and again big thanks to Hastings for organising another excellent meeting.
