Brighton Women sweep up Golds at Combined Events

Becky Owen has been out injured for six months but came back to winning form to take the Senior Women’s Heptathlon title at the Sussex Championships at Sutton over the weekend -less than one hundred points shy of her PB when scoring 4590 points. Becky was in good company. Brighton women had a clean sweep of masters titles with Judith Carder winning the W60, Catriona Gardner the U50 and Stef Dornbusch – in her first multi events since returning to competitive athletics – the W45 title.

In the younger age groups Oscar Tomlinson (Hastings) snatched a close victory, in the U15 boys Pentathlon with 2143 points to 2129, over Brighton & Hove’s Arthur Haines. In the final discipline Tomlinson produced a sparking 800m after Haines had led from the first event
