Several of our youngsters took to the road to compete over a mile along the Brighton sea front at the City’s Half Marathon Youth Races. On a glorious day – perfect for running we finished with four winners. In the youngest age group the 7 to 10 year old boys Josh Pay was a clear winner in 6.03 mins, with Oscar Davies in 3rd place in 6.22.
In the 11 to 12 girls race Brighton had a clean sweep with the first three places. Lois Dooley had an excellent run in 6.02 followed by Pia Lewis 6.27 and Astrid Blackledge third in 6.43.
Adam Firsht was third in 5.50 in the 11 to 12 boys race. Brighton’s third winner was in the 13 to 14 boys race where Joshua Firsht beat Max Brazier by 10 seconds in 5.32.To even it up for the girls,Phoebe Connolly won the 15 to 17 girls race in fine style in 6.07.
They will all hope to run even faster in the Brighton Marathon mile races in Preston Park in April.Well done also to all the other Brighton youngsters that took part.
