B&H Athletes Win 7 out of 12 Mini Mile Races

There were some outstanding results from the younger members of the club in Sunday’s iconic Brighton Mini Mile races. B&H athletes won three of the four Under 11 boys’ races with Dominic Pay, Finn Halloren and Jamie Arnold all victorious and Adam Firsht and Hayden Buss in fine 2nd places.  Dominic was the U11 boys’ overall champion with the fastest time of the day (6.08) in that age group.     
With nearly 200 athletes in each of their races, U11 girls’ Roxy Jones (7.01), Lottie Wright (7.07) and Ella Matthews (7.17) ran brilliantly to place in top 10. There were many more strong performances from the clubs youngest athletes, most of whom were tackling this distance for the first time.

UNDER 13    

For the U13 boys’ Thomas Eames (5.43) literally ran away with the title. He was 13 seconds ahead of the next runner with one of the biggest winning margins of the day. A strong run from Sam Wilkinson (5.59) in the same race brought him 4th place.
In the Under 13 girls’ race Olivia Monk (6.19) fought hard for victory and despite initially being given second place, was elevated to the top spot by one second with a faster chip time. Amber Anning  (6.01) won her race and retained her overall title, making it four victories in a row, having first won the inaugural U11 girls’ race in 2010.  The red and black of Brighton stood out in this race as Ellie Fitzgerald, Jemima Edwards, Yvette Edwards and Lola Baker filled 5th-8th spots.

UNDER 15 & 18

Three times Brighton Half marathon youth race winner, Nancy Jones easily took the U15 girls’ title (5.47) with Ella Witt (6.10) in third. Ella Ticktin- Smith in 9th (7.00) and Georgia Coleshill 18th (7.29).  Last year’s U13 boys’ winner Tommy Blanden (5.40) stepped up an age group and ran well to come 4th in the U15 age group, a whisker ahead of Oscar Smith in 5th (5.41). Ewan Edmans was 8th (6.03) and Adam Lowry-Smith 19th (6.42). In the U18’s Archie Lewis was 9th in 5:27 and Theo Donegan 12th in 5.54.
