We are sad to learn of the death of Brighton & Hove AC Life Member Arthur Jones, who has passed away in Australia.
Representing Great Britain in the racewalk at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, Arthur excelled in the high altitude conditions, finishing 11th as the first GB walker. It was a great honour for our club at the time as Arthur, Chris Carter (800m) and the late Andy Todd (relays) were all selected for the British team. Arthur emigrated to Australia, competing regularly into his 70s but battling dementia more recently. We send our condolences to his family and many friends 💔.
